 A library collection refers to the total body of materials that a library acquires, organizes, maintains, and provides for its users. It’s everything the library owns or has access to—selected intentionally to meet the needs of its community. What a Library Collection Includes A collection may contain: 1. Physical materials Books (fiction, nonfiction, reference) Magazines and journals Newspapers Maps and atlases DVDs, CDs, vinyl Archives, manuscripts, special collections 2. Digital materials eBooks and audiobooks Online journals and databases Streaming media Digital newspapers Institutional repositories 3.
